Once you put your medical condition in issue by requesting money from another (or their insurance) you necessarily set aside the normal privilege as to medical records. This has some limits in that records wholly un-relatable to the condition for which you’re seeking recovery are usually not ordered produced. The insurance company usually tries to get everything, fishing in the hope that they find something bad and juicy they can use against you. But it seldom works and usually backfires and makes them look sleazy. It is typically better to give the company the releases and move forward. They cannot use the information for any purpose other than the evaluation and proof of your claim.
